About

Obsessed with all things hunting, shooting and fishing

My name is George and I absolutely love all things fieldsports. I was brought up on my family farm in Norfolk, where I learnt fieldcraft from an early age.

After graduating from Durham University, I spent six years working in London as a management consultant before deciding to return to a life more closely connected to the countryside. I packed up my flat and moved to the Outer Hebrides in Scotland to become a professional deer stalker and fishing ghillie. It was there that I developed a real enjoyment for guiding guests and creating days that my guests would remember for the rest of their lives.

I founded Griffin Sporting Club to offer visiting hunters the opportunity to experience the outstanding fieldsports available across the UK, delivered in a thoughtful and traditional manner.

Our Story

Fieldsports runs deep in my roots. I grew up on my family farm in Norfolk, where we were lucky enough to have a driven shoot with pheasants, partridges, and ducks from a young age. My first memories are of standing on the beating line, driving birds over the guns.

As soon as I could carry one, I picked up an air rifle and started chasing small game around the farm - rabbits, pigeons, you name it. I then moved on to a rimfire rifle at 16 (the UK age for that), focusing on rabbits and foxes, often shooting at night with a lamp.

My passion for hunting led me to start my first business, Precision Night Vision, when I was just 16. I designed, built, and sold night vision equipment to fellow hunters. I started out making the devices myself in my bedroom, using a 3D printer, then partnered with a manufacturer in China to produce units under the Precision Night Vision brand.

Between school and university, I was lucky enough to take a gap year. I spent six months in Southern Africa, working on farms and in a game park. One of the highlights was spending three months at a hunting conservancy in Zimbabwe, where I got my first taste of deer stalking. My weekly task was to go out in the bush and hunt game rations for the staff.

Back in the UK, I quickly applied for a .243 rifle, which allowed me to hunt British deer. We’re fortunate enough to have three of the six UK deer species on our family farm, and I harvest around 20 animals a year sustainably. I learned how to butcher the venison myself, and I’ve been sharing well-prepared packages with friends and family ever since.

While at university, I made friends with others who shared my love for the outdoors. We’d swap days out in the field - from shooting high pheasants in Yorkshire to chasing Chinese Water Deer in Suffolk marshlands, and catching brown trout in the Highlands.

After university, I moved to London, working for start-ups and learning how to start and grow a business. Later, I shifted into strategy and management consulting, advising financial clients on improving operations, expanding into new markets, and transitioning to new platforms.

Still, after six years in the city, I realised it wasn’t for me. I packed up my flat and moved to the Outer Hebrides to work as a deer stalker at Amhuinnsuidhe Castle Estate. That’s where I fell in love with taking guests out on stalking trips. I met a lot of motivated people who encouraged me to start this business.

Today, I’m back at home in Norfolk, on our family farm — now the HQ for Griffin Sporting Club. I’m excited to share my passion and show you what fieldsports Britain has to offer!
